I had an ammonia issue with the new tank. Ammonia was at almost 4ppm. I added a ton of new unseeded bio media and was over feeding (stupid i know)

Did a wc and added safestart. 4 or 5 days later ammonia looks to be near 0 ppm. Granted there was established media. Ive also used the product in the past with no established media (starting from scratch) and it worked fine.

1st pic was after the initial water change and dosing with safe start. I didnt think to take a pic of the initial test that showed almost 4 ppm. Last pic is as of last night

thanks for sharing! Also appreciate you sharing this in your other thread. This is good because I bought the safe start like you suggested. Just gotta figure out how to cycle properly. Will check out the Q&A thread!

The 55 is finally in the house. lol. doesn't have water in it yet.

update: sunsun 303B cannister filter arrived in a damaged inside product box(pieces were torn off) outside box was normal. Looked like it had been thrown in there despite the product box being in pieces. Opened the huge filter and there was broken glass inside(UV light I think). DANG THE FILTER IS HUGE! IT'S LIKE THE SIZE OF A 10 GAL TANK! Guess it got thrown around during shipping.Needless to say will be returning it for a refund. I can't make this stuff up. lol. Will be giving it to UPS tomorrow and reordering through a different company.

The good news is my betta (the fish without a filter, who I got from Petsmart) has made it to the 6 month mark lol. And I don't have Tuberculosis.

right?! You have an Enheim (spelling?) those are less breakable, right? On another note I hear Aquaclear 110 HOB get broken in the mail all the time. If I go sunsun again, should I get without the UV sterilizer(glass component)?

yeah, I have a aquaclear 20 on my 6 gallon fluval edge. Would you recommend AC110 over a cannister for 100gals? It's on a 55, but I might convert it to salt eventually(after I get my big tank).
