So i have had my flower horn for about 2 months now, and i'm pretty sure its a male because of the kok. "hump" but my question for the community is how is your experiences with Flowerhorns? My flowerhorn is really aggressive, tried to put him in a community tank full of other fish, in a 120g and didn't work. So he is now in a 50 gallon long. With a rock. lol

As a general rule, flower horns are fairly high on the aggressive scale (I think there are meaner like the dovii and red terror). But the caveat to this is individual fish are different, some are meaner and some are docile. I have had flowerhorns for a little while, one is currently in the sump and is the "ugly step child." Eventually I will pull him out to see how he is progressing. The other 2 I have are fairly new additions and are a bit more colorful. According to one members view, one looks like a flowerhorn crossed with a blood parrot (I have to agree it looks like it).

figures why theyre so aggressive. How does mine look to you ? healthy? male??

Definitely a male (hump is right there). Colors are nice. Looks healthy to me (a little easier when they are the only fish in the tank lol).

Having a kok or hump does not mean its a male. From what I can see of the genital region of the fish it looks more male, however it also looks like it has a black patch on the dorsal fin which can often mean it is a female. Males can also display a patch on the dorsal when they have a double flower line. This flowerhorn does not appear to have any double line forming. Flowerhorns can be really tough to vent to determine gender even as they are adults. In the end I would say its a little early to tell if "it" is a he or she. In time you will know for sure.
