17-18 inch Black Ghost Knifefish (pics)

I'm usually quite clued up with Knifefish, but this one has me a little puzzled.
I know female Black Ghost Knifefish have a blue tint in season with a short head and males have headshapes a little bit like one's bellend, but this one has a very long headshape like a female Dragon Knifefish, but still a bit short of a male.

Any experts out here who could clarify?

Definitely Apteronotus albifrons or a close relative. Very impressive specimen!

Here's the stripe on the BGK I was referring too. I know it's present on the forehead of adult specimens, it was on my previous 12-13 inchers too.
Curious to know if it fades and dissapears beyond that size.

I've never seen a pale tail band on a dragon knife before, but most of them do have a stripe going part way down the back like in the photo below..

Ah so that's present on both species then, cheers for clarifying

I've seen the tail band on both species too, but it was only the 1 band, whereas BGK had 2, so this one is looking like a BGK then, thanks!
