American cichlids tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bolivian rams(only because they are a lot hardier than the other rams)
Or more keyholes.
Other than that I would stock the tank with characids and small peaceful cat fish like ancistrus or corydoras.
Threadfins can be very prone to health problems in hard alkaline water and may prove to disrupt the peace as it grows.

Yes as of right now
Everybody get alone good
I'm a member of another forum and certain members requested that I rehome my paradise gourami and rainbow shark
N threadfin acara
You think she might cause problems
N ok I'll keep looking for more beautiful peaceful fish
I had a clown pleco but he died

If by thread fin acara's you mean Acarichthys heckelli, although they grow slowly, they get way too large for a 75 gal.
I was warned they need 200+ gal tanks, but thought I could manage their aggression in a 150 gal tank. I was wrong and they killed each other between the 2 and 3 years of age mark.

Although they are not aggressive with dissimilar looking species, others that look similar (others of the tribe Geophagini) or Rams may not be so lucky.

So you don't think I could get away with 1 in a 75
I think I might rehome my keyholes cichlids
Rainbow shark and gourami to have better stocking choices
That will leave me with only the heckelli
I'm not sure what I'm going to do

Thanks

Personally I would rehome the Heckelli I have a large one in my 180 gallon and it will chase others away from food imo a very glutinous specie.

Really. He does that in a large tank
Did you get him mature or as a baby
I like her tbh
Isn't shy at all. Aren't agressive. Loves to swim all around the tank. Picks up the sand. Etc etc.

Some good suggestions, if you go rams I also recommend Bolivians. You could get a group and they are interactive, entertaining fish, and a little bigger and heartier than the GBs.

Another dwarf that hasn't been mentioned that I like is Dicrossus - Checkerboard cichlids- you could also have a group of them. They're attractive and peaceful.

For the top you could get some hatchets and/or nannostomus eques - hockey stick pencil fish. And there are lots of tetra options for movement and color.
