Hello all. Over the last couple days one of my pandas has been looking unhappy and hiding much more than usual. Hasn't eaten much in the last two days either. I decided to give them some prazi last night, and this morning there is stringy white poop all over the tank. I'm going to continue with prazi for the next week, but I want to know what else I can use for a more broad spectrum treatment. I'm tired of losing these guys. Thanks. Woefulrelic Woefulrelic

Adding metro and levamisol will cover a little of everything that includes with prazi. Would also dose the tank or food with epsom salt.

Hard cause it's treating blindly without looking at the stool under a microscope.

I was planning on adding metro as well. I've been reading about levamisol, but can't seem to find an aquarium specific medication I can run out and pick up.

If I could look at the stool under a microscope, would it help? My son has one.

It would gotta look for motile parasites or eggs. But im not the best to ID them properly.

Probably gotta order levamisol thru eBay or amazon. I had to get some of my meds that way.

Prazi is used for flatworms/tapeworm and is a single 24 hour treatment, followed up with a second single treatment 7 - 14 days later. You don't administer it for days at a time.

I'd be careful about hitting them with lots of meds all in a row. Usually when I treat fish I give them a week or so of clean water to rest in between.

If the feces is long and stringy and the fish are not eating then it's probably hexamita. I treat that with pure metronidazole powder at 500mg per 10 gallons (you'll need a cheap gram scale). I use this as a bath for 7 days with water changes daily.

Levamisole is for roundworms/nematodes and that is also a single treatment like prazi, but it's a bit harder on the fish and usually puts them off their feed and makes them skittish for a day or two.

I'm betting hex.

The cheapest source for pure metro is jehmco.com. Prazi and levamisole (and a whole bunch of other stuff) can be purchased from Steve at angelsplus.com.
