Yeah, I've definitely learned to keep my lids down whenever possible.

Yikes, that would have been tragic if you lost the Volta to a leap!
Not sure your floor surface but I've lost a few Channa sp. assam over the years during water changes while the lids were off. Startled by my work in the tank, leapt, then hit their head on the floor (linoleum covered cement so pretty hard) Even though I was right there, and they spent at most 15 seconds out of the water, respiration had totally ceased and they were dead. Tried to revive in the tank to no avail
As snakeheads are both tough as nails and can survive out of water for a good while, I concluded it was the impact that killed them.

Clarias bro, live anywhere in anythingThat sucks... i hate losing a fish in a such a manner. Its the most frustrating thing imo.
Yes them snakeheads have to be the toughest freshwater fish pound for pound, piranha are pansies compared to SH lmao.
snake heads survive outside of water as well....and would tear that cat to shredsClarias bro, live anywhere in anything
Clarias catfish can't be killed or upset by water changes lol
