Never underestimate a poly ability to jump, when i do fin level WC my sons sen can jump almost in top of the tank, imagine if they have more water to swim up toward the top.
wow, I'll keep that in mind. I'm practically always around the tank so if he jumps I'll return them.

I took the fish out and measured it, 4.5" or so. Eating pellets like there is no tomorrow so hopefully fattens up

Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 is probably giving the best advice to any new poly keepers. Lots of us have lost polys to jumping even with lids that we assumed were secure. Two congicus jumped on me one didnt make it and to this day is still have no clue how the faranah endli made it out. top of my tank has a feeding port even that gets duct taped down

I'm going to try and fastrack the lid when my dad can help me do it :)

I'm cutting a lid from perspex then I'll put something heavy on top.

For the 70 would 2.5" bracing keep em in?

My BV jump out from my tank before, my mom found it on the floor and she got scared, i was able to save it.

I have a glass cover came from a side table so its about 4lbs, but it have a gap about 1" soni think thats where the bv got out. My water level is about 3"-4" low before the top of my tank but still manage to get in that 1" gap from the cover. Its jump 3"-4" up into the 1" gap and crawl out and drop on the floor, so what i did is bought a eggcrate and cut in half, cover the top and used the glass cover as a weight to pin down the eggcrate.

How long can they survive out of water? I'll get a cover up soon but I heard they are pretty tough and can stay a while?

Alright. I'm never away long right so if he wants to jump I'll be there.

The fish seems really active with the dark substrate and moss to hang in compared to at the shop in a bare tank
