You can't let family roll over you

i live with grandad now,

Hello; I saw in another post that you are 27-28 years old. I know it is more common now a days, but living with a relative at that age is a foreign concept to me. I moved out at 19 and have been on my own since.

My neighbor is in his mid seventies. I moved in next to him in 2010. He already had a grandson living with him and the grandsons first wife. That grandson and the first wife brought inside dogs which over time destroyed much of the furniture and kept the house smelling like piss. I would walk over to visit him and there was dog poo all over the place. The live-ins would from time to time clean up but the dogs usually had a lead on them.

The grandson divorced the first wife after she went to live with another guy for a while. He now had married again, a woman with two children. They had a place for a few weeks but are back in next door for the last year or so.

I guess granddads will do what they can for sons, daughters and grandkids. I do not see the upside for my neighbor. His place needs some work and it is one of the other grandsons who I see doing some of that.

I guess I see your side of things. Free rent leaves extra money for tanks and fish. I guess you pay the utilities and water bill. That would be fair.

Please ignore the ramblings of an old guy. I just could never stand to live with a relative.

My wife has 2nd and 3rd cousins staying with us. I'm ok with it. I spent nearly 14 years living by myself.

Hello; I was married a couple of times for a total of 15 years. Been by myself since 1987.
Wow! Drove me crazy sometimes... other times I was just fine with it. One time I spent 2 weeks in the house without going out and seeing another human being.

Do you live in a single family sized house?

You must have felt like Vincent Price in The Last Man on Earth.
