identify this bichir for me

Blasting sand is often coal slag. Sounds bad but is inert and no silica. I have been using it for the past few years mixed with pfs and am pleased with it. The grains are heavy and do not kick up. Bichir OG James F had/has a gorgeous planted Bichir tank with pfs/blasting sand. It is what inspired me.
Yes that's what im looking for. That is exactly what I want to do. Now all I gotta do is find a source for the black sand.......
 
Ive heard black diamond blasting sand being used by other members. Same use as the red garnet sand - blasting media
If you ask in the setup amd filtration section someone should be able to locate it for you
 
Anyone know if the black stuff is safe? or if there is a safe black "sand". I read the way its made silica sand and coal coke fused together by lots o heat...... not sure bout that.

I use black diamond it's great and about $10-15 for 50 lb you can get it at northern tool and tractor supply
