What type of snake ?

What's the tail look like? I'm pretty sure a shovel works better for decapitation...
 
If not in your garden best to leave it, if not a shovel works.

When my dad was in the military he decapitated a puff adder in a tent with a spade. They then cooked it :D
 
It looks like a water snake to me.I'm no tree hugger but it's harmless so why kill it?.....scoop it up in a box or a bucket and toss it in a field,the woods or in a creek somewhere.
 
Oh yeah if its harmless i'll definitly leave it be but i wasnt sure what it was. Kids found it maybe 10 feet from my front yard where they play.

Being a city boy i have no clue what to look for was googling like crazy nut couldnt figure out what it was. Apparently theres only two poisonous snakes in DE

Good for you for not decapitating the snake.Btw,one of the two venomous snakes in your state also reside in Pa and I was bitten by one years ago.....can you guess which one?

It's absolutely not venemous, it's a water snake, no worries there!

Thx guys sid.t wanna kill it for no reason but wanted to be sure my kids and dog play in the area
