How long do you think this tank would last?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say already completely overstocked. You need a new tank soon man

I agree. 80 ppm nitrates indicates you are overstocked now. It doesn't matter why. The fact is the tank's bioload is too large.

Even if the water comes out of the tap at 40ppm, a lower bioload with proper filtration, plants, resins and proper feeding would keep it below 40ppm in between WC.

And you asked basically the same question 1 month ago.

Except since then you've taken out a small Oscar (10 cm), and added in a Ray and a Bichir that are both twice the size.

Can u explain to me about my another 285gal tank?

Stock
1 red arowana 35cm
2 black diamond rays 15-18cm

why i still have about 60ppm nitrate there? Amonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate from tap 40ppm. Wc and feeding regime the same, 1-2x 50% WC a week, feed em what they can finish within 5minutes

Am i overstocked as well there based on nitrate itself?

My other tank dimension is 200cm x 90cmx 60cm

2x fluval fx6
1x eheim 2217

Please advice

This is so stressful lol.. i did what people suggested to me except having plants, but the nitrate just wouldnt go as expected hahaha..

While we are on it, how severe the 80ppm nitrate could harm the fish??

Above 20ppm makes them more susceptible to disease. High nitrate limits their growth and damages their immune system

Use very strong light and fast growing plants for good effect. Floating plants come to mind here
