what's in the QT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry to hear that. Females are less aggressive to each other and the male will spread his "attention" between all the females. Line of sight is big with them too, if they don't see a lot of each other there is less aggression.
Tank looks good.
Cichlids are....... well cichlids. You can give them multiple hiding spots and they will still fight over 1 in particular spot then one day they will be fighting over another spot. Hopefully they get it figured out. Like magpie magpie said more fish may help the settle down.

Thanks! Cichlids are interesting characters. You are definitely right about them fighting over one spot. Even though there are two caves. I did see the one who's in the corner go in the second cave for a bit. But it likes to sit on top of the algae scrubber in the corner of the tank. Neither of them really swim around much which is a little sad, but they are cute. By more fish do you mean more blood parrots, more cichlids or add the polys? I have plans to add 2-3 polys, but am interested in adding other fish if it will help with the parrots.
Looks great glad to see your back in the game sorry about the puffer though
Thanks, Jaws! Slowly but surely. Can't wait to order some polys now! Have to wait for my paycheck first. Then I'll be really back in the poly game. :) thanks for all your help getting the tank cycled and set back up!
Sorry to hear about the puffer:(
Thanks Polyaddict! It was sad because it was a puffer, but thankfully I wasn't super emotionally invested in it. Will have to invest in a glass lid or plastic cutout lids to help seal off the open top of my tank. especially before the polys get here. What are you using for Noah's tank?

Im using eggcrate to cover my tank, then a glass lid on top of the eggcrate to put some weight on it.
I like eggcrate cause you can cut them for the filtration, but someone mentioned that the poly got out from the eggcrate, idk how big was the poly, but it you going to have small poly try to find a eggcrate that have small holes, you can find them at the hardware store like homedepot.

Here's what it looked like

While you're at home Depot getting the egg crate pick up some door screen and zip ties, wrap the egg crate in the screen and use the zip ties to hold it on and not even a rope fish could skip through it :)

What if you wrap the eggcrate with small green plastic chicken wire to make the holes much smaller.
That's why I used gutter guard. It the small plastic mesh that you put in your gutters on the house to catch debris leaves and what not. Its sold in a roll at lowes or hd it 6" wide and a crap load of feet long pretty cheap too.
