All kinds of trouble...now my Jar wont eat!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just one more question on the bluegill. How long have they been together and was the bluegill treated for parasites at all before putting the two fish together.

About 30 days. Not treated.

I removed the bg yesterday.

I will try and fish out the gf today. I dont wanna stress the jar out chasing a gf around.

Lake fish are loaded with parasites that's why they need to be quarantined and treated before ever throwing them into our aquariums I hope the aro didn't catch something

Lake fish had been quarantined for sometime. I did not treat for parasites. I can.

I hope that's not the case, but is that the consensus? we think it's a parasite. Next step?

OK, when do I force feed some food? I do not want to wait till it's too late.

He seems to be losing his buoyancy control. This is making me extremely nervous. He seems to be resting on the bottom when I came in in the morning.

The water parameters are zero, zero, 30. 82 degrees (we had a mini heat wave yesterday so the ambient temp drove up my water temp.

I added some prazipro today. I probably should've added it yesterday.

Another added problem I have, is my wife comes from Asia. As a result a dead Arrawanna signifies bad luck. So she is all freaked out.

Aros can go a long time without eating. Appearance looks good but being that you had untreated lake fish mixed in, my bet is internal parasite. Do you see any small worms hanging off anywhere in the aro?

No. I do not see any small worms anywhere. The bluegill also exhibits no signs of parasites.

What about the Aro'sis buoyancy issues?

It is looking worse. He is still breathing.

The heater is off so he wont burn himself. (Ambiant temp is high enough today to prevent temp changes)

For the record. The blue gill has been living with other tropical fish for months with no apparent issues.

I see one hairline substance hanging off him. Maybe parasite? Who knows?

Suggestions? Euthanize?

It maybe time for me to get outta the fish game. I keeps killing awesome fish, a ray, and now a beautiful aro. I have another ray paid for and am waiting to pick it up......i may just give it back. I cant take this.
