Ordered from AquaScapeOnline last Friday. It has been a LONG LONG time since I've ordered freshwater fish online. I believe the last freshwater fish I personally got online were from Jeff Rapps and were a large royal pleco, datnoids, and a widebar silverdollar. I am going to be buying from Jeff Rapps again in the future for sure as he always has exactly what I want.
It's such a shame that the fish store closest to me has downsized due to the owner selling half of the building. Now they don't carry anything for a advanced freshwater hobbyist who isn't into tetras, barbs, oscars, etc. They don't carry much of the oddball stock that they used too.. Their saltwater live stock selection has drastically changed too they used to have lionfish, puffers, triggers, etc in all the time but now they get them from time to time. Maybe the downsize has hurt them. But I really hope they move to a bigger place because I know the owners since I was very young and they are nice. There prices have gone up since the downsize, I mainly just go in for supplies, fish food, and things like that because it's priced well but the live stock has gone up.
Anyways, for all the oddball fish for now I have to go online!
I ordered a Black Ghost Knife and a Lima Shovelnose to add to my South American Bio-Tope but first they have to go into QT. It ships Wednesday night for Thursday am arrival. BGK are my favorite S.American Knifefish and I have always loved lima shovelnose as they grow to a manageable size unlike the TSN.
I will have a unboxing video and pictures. I'll post them here!
:)

I hope you don't have any trouble dealing with Aquascape online, a lot of recent reviews on them have been pretty negative (for online purchases) and people were saying how much of a nightmare it was dealing with them, although about half of those reviews specifically deals with piranhas. They apparently had amazing service many years ago but have been on the decline since. I can tell you right now their online stocklist is nowhere near accurate, I live local to them and have visited their shop at least 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

In person, they are great, probably the most diverse selection of freshwater fish and oddballs near my area. Although I'm not 100% sure about their water quality, a lot of their new long fin oscars were in terrible shape.

They seem to get a lot of wild caught fish, which are pretty cool. From personal experience, I would highly recommend imperial tropicals for ordering online fish, not sure how their selection compares, but it's top notch quality and service all the way.

EDIT: Just read what you ordered, I was in the store a week ago, and the only BGK I saw were babies, but I did see some good Lima Shovelnoses. Good luck!

Same here pretty much,as far as having to either cross over into New Jersey or purchase most of my fish online as most of the shops that were worth going to here have closed down.
Looking forward to your arrival update.

Definitely go the QT route. Lots of complaints about fish showing up beat up, with fin rot, or something else.

Yea, I've seen some of the reviews about them. I don't deal with piranha often, not really a fan of them but I do like cariba, piraya, and manueli. My dad and I have been customers for years but this is our first order in over 4 years so hopefully we will have a good experience.
Although, I must say Jose (I think is his name or maybe Miguel) has been very accommodating to my father and I and is very good. He has pretty good customer communication skills, maybe he is a recent hire? But from our experience once their phones got turned back on he called us asap so that we could order. Friday, they switched to a different company, I don't blame them Xfinity (comcast) is a rip off.
I was quite surprised to see that shipping is only going to be about $40.... it must mean the BGK and my dad's fish are really small. I was kind of hoping for a decent medium sized 3-4'' black ghost knife hopefully that is still the case. Do you remember by chance the size of the black ghost knifes and how small they were? Would you say the lima shovelnoses were on the larger side? Hope I'm not being a bother. If this transaction turns out to be good, I will def order from them again! But, it will be fancy plecos and some of their widebar silver$.

Yea I remember back in the old days, most of the LFS stocked cool stuff but now it's all bread and butter. Funny thing is up here my Petco and Petsmart can sometimes have the stuff you'd expect to see at a LFS. Arowanas (on occasions not frequent), knifefish, different kinds of catfish, etc.
Yea, a lot of the good fish stores closed down. One of the best in the arena closed a while ago like maybe 7 years ago?! It was a fish store/pet store owned by a married couple that had dogs, cats and birds in one room of the building. Then rooms filled with tropical fish and fish stuff. They always stocked a variety of oddball and rare freshwater and saltwater fish. The gentleman loved fancy plecos so almost every freshwater tank had some sort of a L number pleco. Now, you can't find fancy plecos here and if you do you'll pay an arm a leg and a testicle. (lol) Thank god for online as they say. I will def provide an update on their arrival.

Definitely go the QT route. Lots of complaints about fish showing up beat up, with fin rot, or something else.
Yea, I always QT. Always better to be on the safe side.
