Jebao DCP 8000 Unboxing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm using two DCP-10000 on a 180 gal with a 75 sump, I've got them turned really low, you should be fine.

How long have you had your DCP's going? The bad reviews on these pumps have me leary but I love the features. I'm thinking hard about a pair of Eheim 1262's merely for their reputation for longevity.

I've had them coming up on six months or so now. I had them running on my ray pond, along with a DCP-18000. I ended up selling off the 18000 and one of the 10000 pumps and went back to a hammerhead.

They haven't crapped out on me or anything, however I haven't been real impressed with them. They don't handle head pressure well, they lose their flow quickly. They are running fine for my current application, however I will not be buying the Jebao pumps again.

I think a lot of the bad reviews came from when these pumps first came out. There were some sellers that actually imported the Asian pump that was meant for a different voltage, and sold it as the US type, which caused some problems. However, all of the ones I know of being sold in the US now are actual US models.

I can't say how they would sound when fully turned up but the way I run mine, at 55-60%, they essentially make no noise.

I'm kind of surprised to hear this said about them. Mine are running about 800gph each, at 55-60%. They are the DCP 8000's that are rated for 2000ish gph. I also have them at about 4-4 1/2 ft of head height. Personally, I don't think that is bad at all.

I was using the 18000 on a 150 gal, had about 17' of head on it as I had it set up with a basement sump. According to the chart it should've been between 1000 and 1500 GPH, which I would have been happy with. But, with the heaters in the sump it wasn't even moving enough water to keep the tank up to temp. I had to heat the sump to 82* to get the tank up to 79-80*.

I also used a 10000 to push water through a cartridge filter then into a tank of k1, it really let me down.

It may do fine for a standard return, but more than a few feet of head pressure and the performance dropped off on all the DCP pumps I tried. I've still got three of them, when I get my system running again I will not be using any of them if that says anything. I'm glad they work for some, but I disliked them enough to recommend against them.

Never used dcp but i trust travis's judgment. I love the dcts and would absolutly go jebao/sump over canisters.

Id go with what ever model is cheaper

I agree. They loose a ligbof flow with a big of heat. I am runnjng a 10000 at 4 feet of gead an i think itbis pushing less that 1600 gph

I'm using a FB sump with K1 either way. Just deciding on pump. The 1262 is a water pump that has an advertised 900gph flow but it has a reputation for being underrated and ruggedly reliable. But it's ac and not adjustable (without a ball valve). Maybe I should get 1 eheim pump for peice of mind and one DCP for easily adjustable flow to balance the overflows. I have two returns.

What flow rate are you looking for ?
