Jebao DCP 8000 Unboxing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its a 240 with a 40B sump. It will house a lone male dovii. With the efficiency of K1 and not wanting to give too much current for this fish, I'm aiming for 3-5 turnovers per hour. So 1000 or low teens

Well i kust checked amazon and the dct are even cheaper than when i baught them. I would skip the 1262. I like redundancy so two jebaos run on the lower end setting would be my choice. As far as what model....which ever is less $$$.

I used my dct 6000 to pump muddy water out of a culvert and it still works fine

How long have your DCTs been running

Some are newer than others but the oldest is probably 1.5 to 2yrs old

I was using the 18000 on a 150 gal, had about 17' of head on it as I had it set up with a basement sump. According to the chart it should've been between 1000 and 1500 GPH, which I would have been happy with. But, with the heaters in the sump it wasn't even moving enough water to keep the tank up to temp. I had to heat the sump to 82* to get the tank up to 79-80*.

I also used a 10000 to push water through a cartridge filter then into a tank of k1, it really let me down.

It may do fine for a standard return, but more than a few feet of head pressure and the performance dropped off on all the DCP pumps I tried. I've still got three of them, when I get my system running again I will not be using any of them if that says anything. I'm glad they work for some, but I disliked them enough to recommend against them.

Do you mind letting me know what size line you were using to pump the water up to the tank? With 17ft of head height, the size of the line can make a huge difference in the flow rate.

If you can pull it off with a jebao, do it. If you need a step up reeflo pumps are the way to go. Jebao have been making the most dollar to value pumps for a bit now, but I feel like they are ill-equipped to deal with 17' of head.

17ft sounds like allot might take the others advice pacu mom pacu mom is a big fan of hammer heads maybe she can chime in

I used the largest fitting the DCP-18000 came with, I believe a 1.25", then immediately went up to a 2" pipe, it stayed 2" all the way up and into the tank for the return.

Jebao claims it can handle that sort of head, so figured I'd give it a try and use less energy than my Hammerhead was using. When the flow wasn't up to what I expected I switched back to my Hammerhead. More expensive to begin with but honestly I expect it'll last a decade unlike the Jebao. It also doesn't use that much more when running with head pressure. I checked the amps it was pulling through my controller, when converted it came out to about 160 watts. I can live with that considering how much flow it was putting out.
