330 gallon Central American cichlid community progress

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive been going back and forth with him this morning. Decided on going for a pair of synspilum which he is going to vent-sex for me. Will be here friday afternoon! But he said that he should be getting some pasionis probably in the next month from rusty so fingers crossed

Awesome man. Jeff never disappoints. I wish I had a tank big enough to do something like yours. I would do 1 group of Oscura Heterospilus, 1 group of some kind of thorichthys and probably a Freddy instead though. For now I'm just going to stick to my group of Heterospilus.

Im so excited for them to come. I saw a few this weekend which made me want to get them more and more.

But that would be an awesome stocking for a tank. I hope you get yourself a big tank! The 330 is already looking small so you should go for at least 400 cause ya know, bigger is better!

Synspilum are on their way from rapps now! Pretty excited.

I do have a question for you guys about one of my meeki. He's a little smaller then the rest of the group and his markings are not defined yet very faint. Not a lot of red underneath and the spot on his gill cover is hardly noticible. Another weird thing is both of its eyes are black. The others are blue. Any reason why he would be like this? Bad fish or just developing

Probably just a bad fish/runt of the litter so to speak.
You often get on in a large group.

I knew I was going to end up with him too. Should have made sure I didn't get him. It looked like I didn't when they were in the bag until I got home
Personally, I don't mind getting a runt in a large group. I just ordered some panamensis and 5/6 of them were all 2-3", and one of them is barely an inch. But the little one is feisty! Always ripping pellets from my dithers. Cute lil guy.
Your tank is sick BTW, thoricthys in groups always look good

Ill keep an eye on him. Hopefully hes fine like the others and doesn't have anything wrong with him health wise. At least my girlfriend will be able to name him too. She already gave the biggest meeki the name Fireball.

But thanks I appreciate it! I cant wait for Rapps to get some pasionis in unless I find them local somewhere. The meeki are pretty funny. Last night I caught them schooling with my buenos aires tetras lol

Did you get yours from the wet spot? I have a pair from there, they're great fish. Big personalities for little fellas
