How's he getting on with his food change? Is he being stubborn?
Only took two days and he's accepting the nls, I think I ordered too small of a pellet though takes a lot of 3mm pellets for him to even come close to being full, he picks them off one by one it's painful to watch.

Lmao... I bet brother.. but main thing is he's taking the nls and that's sweet..;):)

The guy I got him from used to give him food sticks and mussels.
Iv not give him the food sticks coz I feel he will be better at the size he is on larger more meat type foods.
I still give him mussels and some white bait. He goes NUTS for giant night crawler earth worms.
I'm thinking of giving him a slight change now though after seeing the colour change-difference in carotin from prawns. I'm thinking it maybe the way to go to encourage that red we love on the jacks..
And his growth rate is starting to increase now. And he's loosing his shyness too. He takes 10-12 mussels a feed every other day.

Nice

Nice, definitely has a big appetite! How big is he? There's definitely limited info on people keeping them.

Yes I agree with you about the limited info Rhyno8...REQUEST... to all you keepers of mangrove jacks of the PAST and present! If you wouldn't mind would you plz share with us any videos or pics of your fish. Or any info on the different foods and growth rates,or interesting behaviour you might have experienced while keeping your jacks.. would be very cool and helpful.
I have not run a tape alone my fish! But I can say he's no less than ten inch and no more than 12 inch. If you look at the pics of our jacks Rhyno8 there is a fair difference in colour and pattern. Although not much in the way of size difference if you might have noticed..I wonder how come? Is it because there from different locations.. of maybe diet???
If anyone can shed some light would be great.:);)

I did notice the difference on pattern and colour, mines no less then 8" no more then 9. I think mine lacks some of the red because of living in the garage he's 100% under artificial lights If I leave the garage door up for half a day he goes alot deeper red and starts losing the barring. I just started feeding whole baby squid hits them harder then prawns.
