Well here is what I know. I feel confident didn't in saying that Kai had an eye injury which triggered the hith shortly after.
I did try Epson salt treatment early on followed up by nls hex shield treatment.
Currently the spot is probably about the same size as it's ever been and just about as deep ( I may have overreacted) initially as I tilted the lighting in the tank to do some photos which shines on the would differently drawing my attention more to it.
He still randomly poops clearish and many times he poops normal. He eats great, shows great colors, super active, no change in personality at all.
I will be stopping by a LFS to pickup some meth blue and I will be applying it directly to the wound. After doing some reading I think this could help ensure no infection
I am still going back and forth with the idea of doing one final treatment with nls hex shield but this time for an extra week to ensure he is eating enough of it.
I am still hoping to get some more ideas and thoughts on this and how to best go about ensuring Kai's full recovery.
Please keep offering any advice you all feel is helpful.
Thank you
One thing I wanted to mention. I talked to one guy at a LFS about hith and he immediately suggested a low grade dog food for my fish. He said something about the amino acids found in it would cure my fish. He says he has done this multiple times with oscsrs.
Any truth to this. I immediately wrote this off as crazy man talking ****. But thought I would mention it here.
