Would it be okay if I put 4 Bala sharks and 2 silver dollars in a 75 gallon tank?

Balas hardly get over 10 inches in captivity they would be fine a 75-90 isn't as small as people think and at least a group of 4 sliver dollars

You can do red belly piranha, you can only get 4 or 5 for a 75 gallon but it would be better than bala sharks in there for sure. I'd say go for it.

Woah yeah red belly piranhas would be perfect. Only problem is I haven't seen a single store that sells piranhas, how would I get them? Also in your opinion piranhas would be better than silver dollars?

very interesting. Half the people I have talked to in the past say it's okay to have Balas in a 75 and other half saying never do it, pretty interesting how its a divided opinion like that. In your opinion though do you think a school of 5 red belly piranhas would be nicer or a school of silver dollars

Just get the silvers....unless you want to see your fish swimming around with chunks bitten out of them.
The thing with balas is that they are slow growers....few people keep them long enough for their eventual size to be an issue.

That shouldn't be the case because many people keep this as a pet, and no one would be keeping them if they just all killed each other

I didnt say that they killed each other.I have seen plenty of red bellies in bigger tanks than yours with bite wounds,if you had seen any in the stores in your area you would have seen that as well.

I had a friend give me his 10 inch bala shark(in a 75) and he looked cramped just by himself. He was always jumpy and skittish.

With Bala's you need a small group. Helps with their social behavior and their skittishness.
