Hi guys how are you? So I am new here hello! I have decided that I am going to keep this 70 gallon aquarium that I am getting for free tomorrow as a saltwater tank. The guy told me it has about 100 lb of live rocks in it and there is sand in it and basically it has like everything that you need. I believe he told me he spent about $2,000 just on the whole aquarium, so this is where I need some help. What are some beginner fish but also some fish that are saltwater that will go well in a 70 gallon tank? I am going to post a picture down below so you guys can see what I am getting. I am picking this tank up tomorrow morning because the guy is moving and he just wants to get rid of it, so if you guys could please help me out I would really appreciate it and thank you so much!!

Welcome aboard :)

If that is a current pic of the aquarium with water in it that is a big plus. Personally I suggest that you keep the Clownfish and Damsel because they are hardy and great beginner species.

Hi there and thank you so much!! Well the guy didn't mention anything about giving me the fish just the whole tank, set up, and stand.

Once you get experience of maintaining the aquarium such as measuring the Salinity using a Hydrometer and mixing new water for water changes, testing parameters with a API Saltwater test kit and master this then advancing to more challenging species won't be a problem. I highly recommend that always do diligent research before acquiring any specie.:)

Btw make sure the media of the filter stays wet and does not dry out and don't rinse off with water from tap if you don't already know this. The live rock is also a natural filter it has a lot of creatures living on it some naked to the human eye.

You could easily convert that setup into a beautiful miniature reef in the future.:)
