New to Rope Fish - help on set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
again i missed nearly a whole page of conversation. you are all too much! do i get bonus points if i use hot pink duct tape? lol

so a little update on the Beamer girl... she is still leaving the piggies alone (yay!) although the bn is being a little too aggressive with them now, chasing them a bit too much for my liking. not sure why either. i've always had albino bn's and they have never ever bothered any fish, so i'm not sure if the regular ones have a different temperament? Beamer is still not taking food from me yet, but, she is not freaking out anymore when i am in the tank (well, not Me but my hand and arm lol) and she is no longer having a hissy fit and pout session after a wc. she just moves to a spot that i'm not cleaning. i spot clean on one side and a full clean on the other and swap each week. she continues to follow my finger around on the tank wall but still not coming out to get her yummies. i thought i would make her wait an extra day to make her extra hungry.. that backfired :( she ate the last remaining neon. i still have one mystery tetra remaining in the tank, hopefully she won't eat it. other than that, she is a happy camper. she is out and moving around quite a bit, very active during the day for being nocturnal lol

My BN never bothered anyone. Again, when you upgrade your tank size it should help. 10 gallons is so little!

I had a 6" jacka$$ regular bristlenose named spike he is the only one out of 100s I've had that was like that. The final straw was when he cornered my 4" striped raphael and they drew blood on each other. So he went in the tank with my 12" a-hole carpo knifefish before I could find a new home for him

T thefredpit I've never seen pink camo! I must find that one lol

Ok so there can be butt head bn's. I'm not even sure he is a bn, I'm starting to wonder if he is a baby common, in which case, he needs to go. All my baby ABN I have had in 30 yrs had at least tiny bristles, this guy has none and has nearly doubled in size in less than a month. Still smaller than the piggies. My smallest cory is 2 1/2" and the bn was an inch when I got him but is now 2". None if my ABN grew that fast. *shrug*

On a positive note, Beamer came to me today when I was putting pellets in the feeding area. I've been placing them rather than dropping them in so she could get used to my hand in there other than tilapia. She swam to my hand and touched me!!! She is soooo soft!!!

Ok, thank you for confirming what he is :)

I think when I get the bigger tank I'll just not add anymore fish until I get the 150 next year.
