If it doesn't heal it will be rehomed by then.I bet in 12 months you won't even be able to tell it happened

Send it to me. I am an optimist and think it will be fine. I have had some females in breeding pairs with literally no tail left that healed up completely. This has been the norm in my water change routine for years.
Perhaps different fish have different healing capabilities,my ten inch indo dat has had a v tail for almost a year now.I think it has fused and will remain that way. Also, someone mentioned the age the fish which may also be a factor.Send it to me. My pollini is the same way, I assumed it was a genetic issue with the individual since it is the only fish I have had that did not heal up at all. This is an old pic, but the fin still looks the same.Perhaps different fish have different healing capabilities,my ten inch indo dat has had a v tail for almost a year now.I think it has fused and will remain that way. Also, someone mentioned the age the fish which may also be a factor.
Shame, such an otherwise beautiful fish.My pollini is the same way, I assumed it was a genetic issue with the individual since it is the only fish I have had that did not heal up at all. This is an old pic, but the fin still looks the same.

Thanks Mike.I think you'll be fine. It'll probably take a month or two to make a full recovery, but I wouldn't sweat it.
