hi

I’m looking for a medium amazonian catfish.

Maximum adult size required : 20 inches (25 or Max 30 inches). no RTC or TSN (too big for my tank)...

I think about merodontotus tigrinum but too much expensive... in Belgium minimum 800$...

I think about clarias battrachus but not amazonian...

Do you have some ideas ? The catfish will be with astronotus and peacock bass...

Thx

You can filter the Cat-eLog on Planet Catfish by size and see what you find.

BTW, there is no danger in a TSN breaking 24"-30" mark. We get refuse / culls from food TSN farming operations (if from SA) or just very poor quality, carelessly and cheaply mass raised TSN, if from Asia.

We have been recently discussing this on MFK. There are almost no known TSN raised by MFK-ers that broke 30", especially if bought as a "generic, species-less" TSN, which appear all to be a fasciatum or a hybrid thereof.

TSN = pseudoplatystoma fasciatum ?
Never more than 24-30 inches?

If true, i would go for it...
I thought pseudoplatystoma fasciatum became as big as RTC...

Could you confirm latin scientific name of TSN ?

Wild caught do grow big but most of the TSN sold are farmed ones. If you get lucky, their growth stuck at 15-18". Yes, pseudoplatystoma fasciatum spp.
