"Wet Pet" for 33 US Gallon Tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I looked it up, tank is a 30" 27 gallon. Solo or pair of sajicas or any cryptoheros species are your best bet. Plenty of nice fish in that genus, but the less common ones would probably have to be ordered. The ones you might find in a store are sajica or convicts/Honduran red points. These would be good choices.

  • W80 x D35 x H50cm (from Roma) =
  • L31xW13xH19 inches
Punch these in the old aquarium calculator = 33.1 US gallons.

But still, I agree with swami. Plus, I love the Cryptoheros family anyways!

Take a look at Blue acara, there is an Electric Blue version as well. The normals look like a cross of GT, and JDs. Or something over looked Jewel cichlid if you don't mind doing an african one, but unlike the lake cichlids they like simular water conditions to CA/SA cichlids.

I agree Jexnell Jexnell as for a EB Acara very mini Oscar like personality in a small Cichlid.

Here is a pic of a normal Blue Acara (not my pic or fish just an example pic I got from the intrwebs)

I have not kept these myself but plan to when I move my JDs into a bigger tank. Along with some Bloodfin or rummynose tetras, pack of Cory cats for bottom cleaners, and possibly a bristle nose pleco.

Okay guys, after reading up on some of the suggestions I think I'll go with a male Sajica with maybe some dither fish (if my tiny tank allows it!) I love the nuchal humps they can get and they seem intelligent according to various owners.
Jewel Cichlids seem great too, but I doubt my tank would support one of each and hear Jewels can get super territorial.

I don’t think you’ll regret a Sajica one bit, their fantastic little fish.

I'm looking for a SA/Central Cichlid that'll grow to a reasonable size and be responsive to me being around - I've kept smaller fish/dither fish and Convicts in the past and would love a single, intelligent Cichlid for my tank. So far I've seen:
-Herichthys carpintis/Green Texas Cichlid/Pearlscale Cichlid (Looking at some of the Cichlid profiles in the sticky I could keep one however other places disagree, would love some opinions)
-Blood Parrot Cichlid (Again seen in the Profile thread, 30 Gallons minimum stated there)
-Electric Blue Jack Dempsey (Probably TOO big.)

Mostly I would love to hear some suggestions.
All of the fish mentioned are too big for that tank some aggressive mini "tankbusters" you could consider
X1 male salvini cichlid, colourful, aggressive, medium sized
Or
A pair of convict cichlids

Really the intelligence and size means more to me than aggression or colour.

Would Sajica cichlids benefit from dither fish, and if so, is there any anyone could recommend? I love how everyone's suggestions have got me off of having a single fish alone in a tank, by the way! :p
