The hang on lip to one of my wetdry filters overflow prefilter has broken off.I was wondering if the unit is salvageable with the proper adhesive or will I have to purchase a brand new unit?

Sounds fixable...sand it down a bit and reglue with weld-on#40 or #42.. if possible reinforce it with some scrap material for a patch to make it stronger while ur at it. Nice little project to get ur feet wet with acrylic.

I can't seem to find this Weld On stuff anywhere.I've been to Home Depot,Lowes as well a few old school mom and pop hardware stores and no one has it.

You will likely have to special order it unless you have a plastics/acrylics manufacturer near you. I've bought it off amazon before after TAP plastics didn't have any.

you might also want to try www.thomasnet.com

Yeah,I have found some sellers online but they either have high minimum amount orders or they require setting up some kind of company account in order to buy from them.

Alot of guys use ebay to order online...i have mine special ordered through a local acrylic shop. Hardware type stores def. wont carry it. Its hard enough to get through an acrylic store as they usually know nothing about it either even tho its the #1 glue used in the aquarium industry. #40 is a 2 part epoxy and will be a bit cheaper than the #42. #42 is basically a "cleaner" version of the #40. it comes in pre measured tubes and mixes itself similiar to the cheap 1 use epoxies available at the hardware stores. An average price for a pint kit of the #40 should run ya $28-35.

I did find a seller on EBay but I kind of balked at his shiping charge.I am accustomed to paying next to nothing on shipping for most items that I have gotten from there. It looks like that might be the route to go though.
