Happy thanksgiving - this piece came in today

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It has grown about 1-2cm since the last update (feeding it twice a day). Do plats grow much slower than non leucitic bichirs?

Growth / appearance:
Update a month and a half into owning the baby plat. It was 6cm when I got it and it’s now, as of mid jan 2018, 7.5cm. So about a centimetre a month in terms of growth. It can also be observed that it's shed some of its dark spots/markings it had at 6cm and turned somewhat more whitish/platinum as it has grown.

Diet:
It’s weaned itself off tubifex worms onto small guppies so hopefully I’ll be able to get more growth out of him. :) plan is to get it onto pellets once it’s done with the last two guppies in the tank

End Nov 2017

It’s been three months since the last update. It’s now 11cm, so the growth has been consistently (slow). Last measured was 7.5cm so that’s just over 1cm a month. At least it’s getting a little thicker. Also, it has now grown out of the dark spottings it had when it was between 6 - 9cm.

As plat endlis go, I might have gotten one with bad growth genes, or are plat endlis generally slow growers?

Edit: as far as polys go, this plat has been the most demanding in terms of husbandry (from live foods to water quality and then onto pellets). Plat endlis are quite a high maintenance fish as compared to say a normal endli or even a PBB.
