300 Poly Paradise

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bichirs are looking great! Love that retro.

This tank is insanely beautiful. Seriously one of my favorites by far. Is that spider driftwood? Why no larger polys like teugelsi or weeksii?

Thanks doc!

It's a mix of manzanita and spider wood.

Two reasons: 1. I can't find them near me. 2. I'm technically not supposed to have fish in the house which is why the tank is so ridiculously jungle like and will continue to get not jungle like. And also why I'm trying to go smaller species so they can hide better. If it were up to me there'd be a massive school of giant rabbis and a breeding pair of longfin albino oscars in here too. But that'll be once we move :)

Wait you’re not supposed to have fish in the house? But you have a 300 gallon tank? Lol

But you could always order them there are plenty of reputable suppliers online. And I’m telling you once you get a one of the big guys you won’t regret it. I can’t speak for weeksii but I know teugs are relatively docile.

But it’s your tank and it is beautiful and all the polys look great. We need some more pics of that eel too haha

Teugs are my favorite by far. I had a 16" wc one randomly die on me 2 years ago. I've kept the big guys too. Endli, congicus, ornate. Had an 18" ornate just recently kill herself by slamming in to the side of the tank after getting spooked. That was a rough loss. But I'm all for another teug if I can find one at a decent size for not a ridiculous price after shipping, which is the hard part. I don't have a grow out tank and my quarantine is a 33 gallon plastic tote.

So yeah, the leasing office counts fish tanks as pets. The whole tank. And I'm only allowed 2 pets, we have 3 cats (dont go there), but I got it cleared that if we just have a box of plants and inverts it doesn't count as a pet because there's no fish. I also confirmed size doesn't matter, so I could set up a 2500 and as long as it doesn't have fish, it's allowed in my situation. Or if I get rid of the cats, it would count as a single pet. I wasn't gonna argue after that

Also interested where you got your inverts? I am and have always been interested in the "clean up crews" as they say in saltwater. Id like to get scuds and a few different snails especially burrowing types. I have a pretty good breeding supply of ramshorns, and I have a half dozen nerites. That's it though, i'd like shrimp but they wouldn't survive long...lol. When you say limpets which are you referring to? Ive not found any fresh water limpets available, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.
