What's your experience with a wolf fish?

Wolves are amazing fish to keep. I didn’t have much luck mixing my mala with other fish, it tried to eat a silver dollar and tiger fish lol. So I ended up selling it. If I had the space I would definitely keep another. Afaik bichirs and wolves make a great combo, a few people I know have kept mala and endli together for years. Other than that, I’d say datnoids would make decent tankmates and probably silver / black arowanas.

Get read for a laugh...I love bichirs so when you typed Afaik bichirs I thought wtf bichir is that? Sounds cool. Haha then I saw it was just an acronym for as far as I know!

Thanks for the post I'll definitely look into tankmates now. Always interested in owning an arrowana and datnoid too. I'd just choose one as I know they get huge.

I have a h malabaricus very aggressive he bit me when I first got him he was about 5 inches long I put my hand in to remove a snail he shot up and bit my finger and drew blood he is now 13 inches in length so I have to be very carefull
Blood! Nice well not nice but that's the feedback I wanted to confirm. How long did he take to get to the current size?

My wolf fish pulled a fast one on me today. For the time I've owned him I would alternate krill and brine shrimp spriluna cubes. Tried brine shrimp and he ignored it. I took it out and gave him krill and he devoured it. I know I need to diversify his diet so I'll see what else I can buy. Seems like I got a spoiled one ha.

I just grabbed that black columbian wolf from jeff, hes in a tank with redhooks and oscars. I had some smaller yellow africans in there for tank cycle and he found thosr to be snacks. My best advuce for owning a wolf is dont have fisb thay fit in his mouth

I haven't kept one in years but the one bit of advice I can give that hasn't been mentioned. Keep the tank covered as tightly as possible. The smallest of openings a wolf fish will find and jump out. I've lost 2 over the years that way, they are definitely suicidal.
