Still confused about Royals - specifically Xingu

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So, Xingu vs l190, the Xingu has more contrast as an adult?

Are the Goldlines the hardest to find? Platinum next?

Do you have/have had a blue eye? Any problems keeping them together?

I’ll answer the blue eye question - mine is an extremely aggressive fish and is the 2nd most aggressive Pleco I have owned. L234 is the most aggressive which would latch on to free swimming fish.

That being said the blue eye is aggressive and there will be fighting. In general, if your tank is big enough an armistice will occur but it could be after a lot of fighting and can result in another Pleco not doing so well along the way ( even death if the blue eye is the bigger fish and the tank does not provide separate territory.

Here’s a pick of my blue eye and luteus facing off.

Thanks! My tank is a 150. Smallest blue eye I've come across is 6"-7". Roughly the same as my Goldline and my Rhino.
Maybe it's not a great idea

The above 2 are both north of 17 inches, probably closer to 20 with the luteus slightly longer but the blue eye probably more total mass.

The blue eye used to chase a jardini that I had in the tank. As most keepers will tell you, jardini are often one of the more aggressive fish in the hobby. My blue eye leaves other free swimming fish alone but clearly disliked the jar, lol. At this point, a steady state has set in and him an the luteus and various pseudacanthicus fight as they pass into his territory.

Yes adult Xingu has more contrast than L190

Depending on season Platinam are pretty easy to find but lately I been seeing more vendors with different types of L27 goldline.

In the pass I had a 11” blue eyed suttoni. I can tell you big panaque can inflict quick serious damage with theirs long odontodes.

oh Rotaryp04s Rotaryp04s my LFS just got in a 4" L027 JAMANXIN GOLDLINE for $90 I wish I had the money
