Still confused about Royals - specifically Xingu

Do you feel a 12" L330 would be a risk in a 150 with my Goldline? Better off waiting to find a smaller one?

I do agree that my Goldline is an araguaia. It's shape is the same as what I'm seeing in pictures, definitely a high body and short snout. The colors are amazing on it. I just wish it was a bit more photogenic. As soon as it sees a camera it runs off and hides.

I'll put some veggies in there and see if it'll come out for a photo-op.

Obviously, "best" is an opinion but is there a ranking of price/desireability for royals?
Curious to see sort of what the pecking order is as prices seem to be all over the place.
That little 3" L190 I found yesterday was $40. My 6"-7" Goldline was about six times that. Not sure if I overpaid or not but had never seen one in person and wasn't leaving without it.

If it was me I would wait for one smaller than your gold line. I wouldn’t want a L330 beating on gold line.

$25 - $40 is pretty average for LFS.

The longer it been in your tank it will start to come out. Other plecos will help it to come out too. My araguaia are shy but they’re starting to venture out to the open for algae wafers.

I've had the Goldline for 7 months now. Had a lot of plecos but unfortunately while I was out of town last month my girlfriend did a 50% water change for me and forgot to add prime. Killed at least half of them. I'm guessing there are around 10 in there now. The only one of similar size to my Goldline is a rhino, who is always out.
The Goldline used to hand on wood with an 8" L253 I had. Also had an L95, which my Goldline HATED. It would zoom out from wherever it was hiding and ram the L95 when feeding. That was the most gentle giant of a fish I'd ever seen, the royal gave it no peace...

It does venture out, especially when feeding. It's just extremely skittish and doesn't like it's picture taken at all. He's got an interesting personality for sure.

@rotary04s since you seem to be the most knowledgeable about L027s could you give a list of what you see as a fair price for the different royals(L027s, L190, L191, L330...etc) if they are all 4"

L27 Teles Pires i seen them $550-$700 each in the pass for 8”-11” only seen big ones.

L27 Xingu 4” $60-$75 7”-10” $150-$200

L27 Tocantins (platinum) $150 -$200 for 7”-9”

L27 goldline araguaia 4” & up $135-$400 (second most expensive L27)

L27 Tapajos 4” & up $75-$250

L27 Jamanxim 4” & up $75-$250

L190 & L330 watermelon 2.5” & up $25-$130

L191 (dulled eyed royal) 2.5” & up $25- $130 People on here have spent $700 & up on 19” and bigger L191.

Blue eyed panaque 7” $350

Before it was more like $800 and up for the two types of blue eyed. But the better blue eyed is cochlidon.

I agree ^^^^^

in addition L418 is about the same price as Xingu, maybe slightly more
L90 Papa is about 40 and up is what I have seen lately.

We are lucky enough in my area , we have swap about once a month and typically slightly cheaper.

So...Now I've got a question about L418 vs L191. Found some threads on this but none contain images anymore so hoping one of you can advise.
Went into a store today as I'd heard they got a shipment of royals. They had a tank of really nice 3" L190 and a tank of what I believe to be 2" L191.

Some of the L191 had rather yellow tails, something I thought was a sign of L418.

What do little L418 look like compared to L191? Is there a dead giveaway?

Here’s my 2 cents. The L418 lines pattern is thinner and not as broken as the L191(even when small) the green is lighter, the eyes are not as dulled as the L191.

Been eyeing the xingu i fist posted.
Its definitively stressed in the shop but looking pretty dark. Do the Xingu change shades depending on mood/environment like some of the others?
Its ~5_6" and $100, debating pulling the trigger.
How common are these guys?
