Getting ready to cast the base for my pond, but don't want to concrete the pipe work and bottom drain in. I would rather surface run them. Is there any reason why this cannot be done, it does not bother me being able to see pipework. My plan is to run the pipe to the lowest part of the pond, or form a small area lower than the rest of the base.

just to expand a bit, my department has a large water feature with water falls and all that, want to say160,000g water, I always have it drained by way of trash pumps to clean it, even tho it does have a drain valve. cheaper for the casino to put down the CB,s they go into a retention pond than into the sewer thats metered and cost per gallon.
I made mine retro fit as I built my pond, concreting pipework in seems a very bad idea to me.
Good luck, as long as you can make it work. Yea it's bad if it needs to be replaced.
