Surgeon General Urges All To Carry Opiod Antidote!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The United States surgeon general has issued an advisory in which he recommends that more Americans carry the opioid overdose antidote naloxone(Narcan).
Dr.Jerome Adams stated that keeping the drug handy and knowing how to use it can "save a life".....
Excuse me for being dumb but isn't opioid a wide range of drugs? how do you keep antidotes for each one?

There is only one that I know of.....Narcan.

I personally would gladly have some of my tax dollars go to reviving an addict. An addict isn't just an addict, they're still a human being. Innocent people get addicted to these drugs as they've been over prescribed for years now, it's an epidemic.

To say one could pick themselves up by their boot straps and not do drugs, while it has some merit and is something I do at least partially believe in, is ultimately not true for the entire population. People are too dynamic, the situation is too dynamic. I'd rather err on the side of empathy when it comes to another human beings life, even if they don't "deserve" it.

Hello; Pretty much my opinion. Not my place to interfere with the logical outcome of being a drug addict.

Hello; This.

Hello; Yes it is.

hello; I do not want my tax dollars spent on reviving an addict. Police and first responders carry the Narcan in Knoxville TN area. Makes the news from time to time that the same person has been revived more than once. I think one guy was revived twice in the same day.
You are correct it is not cheap.
One woman in my area has to inspect and clean up her yard for syrnges (sp) befor her three year old can play in the yard. I see them along the highway when I walk or ride my bike.

Let nature take its course,if you gonna take poison then your probably gonna die,tax dollars would be better spent on road cleanups, feeding the poor etc.

I understand where everyone is coming from but addiction isnt funny. People make wrong choices ya ya and get to this point, but I find it really sad.

I went to college in a big city in WI and there were syringes on the sidewalks frequently, its a devastating epidemic.

I wonder about the lawsuits as well, good Samaritan law should apply right?

I studied in Sydney Australia before near the city and even in the suburbs there were syringes everywhere on sidewalks etc...

I remember where one of my friends lived in a estate type place, a kid had made a paper christmas tree thing one year and left it in the lobby for residents to appreciate...

Within 24hrs there were countless syrineges just poked into the damn thing which was a realy sad sight...

Disgusting....used dope needles thrown about and discarded is bad enough but to deface a display item with them is well beyond the standards of decency....yet they want all kinds of help and sympathy.

Hello; here is the thing, they don't just take your tax dollars. They use mine and all the other of us who see it as a waste.

Hello; After my last surgery I was prescribed a bottle of oxy. I knew of the problems with that drug back in 2002. I took two to get me thru the first two days. After that I endured the pain. How come I knew better and so many others do not.

I'd rather err on the side of empathy when it comes to another human beings life, even if they don't "deserve" it.
Hello; Fine and good for you. Lets let it be voluntary in terms of who pays for the narcan. You and others who want can pay while I and a few others do not.

No one can use people like a drug addict, they use people's sympathy to prey on them.

Because of how you were brought up? Family? Your specific disposition? Who knows? Not all people are the same though so you can’t just compare yourself to everybody else, you obviously have the mental fortitude to not let yourself give in to addiction but not everybody does.
