Surgeon General Urges All To Carry Opiod Antidote!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not happening these days for me. kinda ruins the look, yu know what I mean? not to mention I am not a EMT. folks are not thinking about the law suits that could be involved. Its just a bad bad bad idea.

What do I do with all the tide balls and condoms ?

All kidding aside I just had surgery and took the narcos for a few days. I don't like the way they make me feel so I couldn't see getting addicted. BUT what ever that stuff is they give you before they knock you out ? Oh hell yeah thank God that stuff is not in my life lol

In all seriousness this seems like a band aid to the real problem or better yet dumping the problem on the general publics shoulders.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

I can see both sides of this. I think the issue being does this really solve the problem. My best friend overdosed when we we barely into our 20's it was gut wrenching. Would this have helped him. Sure. Would he have continued his ways. Absolutely.

Wife's firend is an ER nurse she says it's the same guys over and over coming in. Getting the narcan then rinse repeat. All the while using beds up while kids and sick people wait.

Plus I have no doubt a bunch of politician's are lining their pockets with under the table money

Kid goes out and tries something for the 1st or doesn't know what he's doing I'd say thank God this narcan exists.

Adult who repeatedly od's and has no fear of it because of narcan I say this drug is a curse.

In the end America's drug problem gets worse not better because of this

I would say carrying a life-saving antidote would be good. You can save someone's life!

However, addiction is a problem in any form. Unfortunately, the bad thing is just that drugs are expensive and lead to another behaviour as stated. I don't know if alcoholism is as widely covered?
Anyway, I have heard that a lot of the recent opioid addiction can stem from the healthcare system in the sense that a painkiller prescription is often cheaper than physiotherapy or other treatments and is therefore widely used. Then prescription drug abuse starts, then people move to heavier stuff and so on. I have also read up on how many overdoses happen after rehab when a person's tolerance has lowered and they re-dose with the same volume as before and BAM they're out.

Should we go Duterte and simply erase dealers? Go Portugal and legalise everything which has apparently reduced abuse significantly? Should we follow trials of some countries where addicts swap their street drugs for a clean alternative in monitored area with medical and rehab staff at hand?

The deeper issue is still there, but maybe a Narcan dose can help save a life in the meantime.

Hello; OK so you carry the narcan purchased at your own expense. You come on a person in trouble. Only one thing can go right. You get lucky and the person is indeed suffering an overdose. You inject the narcan, he/she survives and is thankful.
Things that can go bad include giving the drug to someone who is not an addict - lawsuit. The addict dies - you get to go to court and maybe get a lawsuit. The addict lives and sues you anyway because he/she figures to get some money for more drugs. I guess there are more bad outcomes.
But hey, no matter how bad it gets you can always feel good about saving a life. Might even get to save the same person several times.

Is it even legal for a private person to have the stuff? Seems it ought to be.
