I thought this was MONSTERfishkeepers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are people with tanks of 300 on up. If you start limiting, then why stop at 55 gallons. Maybe they should include my 150's, 180's, and 220. What is monster to some may not be monster to others. It is called appreciating the hobby and those that take the time to share what they are proud of.

include RARE and EXOTIC Species of all sizes,
From the welcome page.
Rare and exotic depends pretty much on where your located, what's common for one person might be very rare for someone else.
Fish keeping evolves the same as every thing else. When I first started under gravel filters, 20% waterchanges every two weeks was the norm. Jdm tanks taught us about massive filtration, massive water changes and the benefits it has on the fish. Now more natural style tanks, and more efficient ways of filtration with more modest stocking and the possible benefits this can have. As science improves our knowledge the hobby will keep evolving, harking back to the good old days doesn't do anyone much good.

I agree about the sensitivity, imagine the boring echo chamber this forum would be if all anyone ever posted was ,"nice" and "very nice".....and,"that's really nice".That would be as productive as the "like" feature that seems to be so popular around here in that it would result in little discussion of the subjects in the posted photos.Every now and then I see the lame excuse that many people don't share their photos because of negative comments. The forum is for sharing and learning.I have no problem setting someone straight or being schooled on something that I am wrong about.

I agree, there can be that fear of being criticized, but that is how we learn. The comments help improve peoples husbandry techniques and correct things they may not even know they are doing wrong. Or show someone a better way of doing something. Nothing says we have to use the suggestions, but they can be helpful.

Anyway guys use blew this outta the pond. If only i got this much feed back when i post a problem with my stock! Im an advocate for the bigger the better but i completely understand restrictions(im on floorboards and cant get my 1000 kgs of water like id like without messing around under the house) and most time everyone gets fish to big for most tanks and thats not morally fine but its ok ive got monster fish that will out grow my setups most do.. I hate nano tanks and people asking advice on stocking 20 ltr tanks and such because itll fit it or on the right table.. no. do yaself a favour and put some effort into it.. none of this yeah nar she'll be right crap!

You guys can be such whiny buggers.. Gone of the days of freedom of speech.
Lets start posting some fish ill go first

Here is an OG post just in case anyone missed it.

I think diversity is the future of MFK. The hobby cannot grow if you single out the little tanks keepers. Maybe one day these little tank keepers will have a monster 2000g.

Perhaps the monster tank keepers are too busy hoarding fish, dealing with plumbing, and working to finance the hobby. Not everyone has time to reply to lame criticizing comments when someone post some nice fish pictures. I rather spend these precious time with family or looking at my fish.

there still b monsters here..... lol... i agree not enough big dogs on the block these days but there still out there in the woodwork of the forums... too many nay sayers steering newcomers away from large fish... if someone does have a large fish in a small tank they get berrated to the point of no return/no responses... i dont blame them...
