I thought this was MONSTERfishkeepers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When it comes to "big fish", "big tanks", "rare and exotic fish", "spares no expense", I can't help but think of vincentwugwg. He epitomizes monster fish keeping. He is the ultimate monster fish keeper. I am glad he is a member and that he shares pictures of his awesome tanks and fish with us.

My wife thinks my 120G is too big! Like most I'd like to go bigger but not enough cash, time or space.
Most forums have been killed by Facebook so you need to let more diverse members and topics or this one will go the same way.
It's generally a good forum and lots of knowledge to be shares so I don't see a problem with newcomers joining with smaller tanks but you have to keep the original MFK purpose and vibe in mind.
As for negative posts I agree that people are a bit too sensitive these days, besides a few wankers most criticism is constructive, if people don't want to hear anything at all negative they probably should, stay off the internet all together.
Also what OP said is true, these type of threads get way more action than so,emme asking a legitimate question!

For me, it's the big tank aspect that makes MFK unique. When you have big fish, you need big fish housing. I joined MFK nearly 12 years ago because I had questions about filtration for my 300 gallon tank. While the answers to my initial question were not helpful, "you can't have enough filtration", I ran into a reef man who set me up with unique mechanical filtration, and my tank builder found a wet/dry filter that has worked well for us. Even though I didn't get real help for my initial questions, I stayed on MFK and learned a lot. Let's face it, no one uses sumps on 29 gallon tanks. But what does one do when their fish tank is too big for just plopping on a HOB filter? For me, that's the beautiful part of MFK--the discussions of sump designs, internal/external overflow boxes, herbie, bean animal plumbing for silent overflows, ReeFlo pumps. What other fish forum has discussions on Ultima II filters? The Set Up/Filtration and the DIY forums on MFK are really great. JK47's plumbing pictures are works of art and motivate me to strive to a higher level. There are some really really great parts to MFK.

AC has an Anabantoid Forum. MFK does not. It is painless to join AC and as easy to get on as clicking on any forum on MFK. I am a member of AC.

A arapaimag has a 56k gallon and a 15k gallon.
Ultimate mfk' member period

I gotta say im definitely disappointed with the OG mfk posters defending this wave of nano crap.. get real all of use. EVERY nano tank is wrong. Not a single aquatic creature i can think of that deserves a nano tank! Simple

I sort of agree with you on that, lol. But then again I am not a "monsterfish" keeper either
I own no monster fish at all for the same reasons you stated. One can cram fish no matter the tank size. My biggest tank is a 240G and is housing relatively small fish, the smallest being a big school of harlequin rasboras and the biggest a couple of 9-10 inch loaches alongside a bunch of smaller loaches. My harlequin rasboras behave like a bunch of kids in Disney Land ;) I've no intention in keeping any big monster fish in there ever, although there are plenty of others that would in the same tank size. Whether I'll ever have a true monster tank is unknown right now. But do I want one, oh yes :) I bet every fish keeper dreams about upgrading their tank...

Since I’m lucky to see a new post on the gar section once a week, this has been wildly entertaining to read.

I was on here years back, then back lately. I like the large/huge/monster tanks. Keeping nano or smaller tanks is fine, but I d rather there just be a section for that, and keep the rest monster fish.

Not that anyone cares for my opinion or asked.
