Hey guys. I’m new to the monster fish keepers world and I’m trying to figure out whether my jaguar cichlid is a male or female? The jaguar and my Oscar seem ready to fight to the death and I think one of them needs to go unfortunately. Thanks

That’s what I’ve been thinking. I think I need to get rid of the jaguar unfortunately, not enough space for a male. If anyone’s wants him let me know. I live in the Toronto area. He needs to go quick though. Thanks for the help gourami swami

Definitely a male. Males have more spot patterns plus his head shape is definitely a chunky male awesome fish though.

Thanks for the help. He is a really nice fish but I think I’m going to have to give him up as much as I hate to do it. I don’t have the space for him and he’s going to kill everything. Thanks again

No problem yeah is a shame they are awesome when they fully grown. I had the same problem with my male jag he killed a couple fish now he has a tank to himself so he is happy lol good luck ☺️

I wish I could set up his own tank. I’ve just run out of space for something of that size, I just need him in a good home

Guess I'm a little late on this one but I would have went against the grain and said female because of then large line of spots on the side and rounded dorsal fin. I had one just like it a few years back and she pair up with my female midas and killed a male convict. They were both females because I observed them laying eggs on the same rock. Not exactly next to each other, so it wasn't like they were breeding, but about a foot from each other.
