Yes if the 55 gallon tests at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and some nitrate, then it is cycled and you can use that to seed the new tank. I would put some of the filter media from that tank, the gravel helps too but not as much as the filter media.

Ok I will do that, test water first.

I gorgot to mentioned that this tank has 4 Goldfish and one Pleco. I dont mnow if that matters but I figured I would mentioned it since these Goldfish prodece more ammonia than a whole aquarium.

I recently replaced the filter, it has the ones that hangs on the side which is garbage. On the process of making one for it.

Could you elaborate more cause I don’t understand why I should do this.
As an add on filter or as a reserve for a bew tabk startup?

If you mean the nitrate scrubber it can keep nitrates down but I have never used one. If you mean the filter than you might need a bigger system when your fish are full grown and you have your monster aquarium.

On my 55 gallon i have goldfish and the filter are one of those that comes with the aquariums at Petsmart.

Okay well if you replace the filter you are removing all of the bacteria if you dont keep the same media. Also the fish in your 55 could all get a foot long so you might need to rehome them eventually.

Here is the best video I could find that explains the nitrogen cycle.

Also you should watch one of his videos on filtration you will learn a lot.

Ah, when you replaced the filter, you didn't keep the same bio-media? If you remove the filter media you kill the cycle. when you clean the filter, just take the bio-media (usually ceramic rings or something like that) and put it in a bucket of tank water, swish around and put back. Gotta keep the bacteria on it alive.
