Any secrets to getting rid of brown algae...

Despite large UV filters, I still get the growth of significant amounts of brown algae. All tanks are over filtered. It happens the most in my fahaka tank which is a single fish tank which I have led lights on daily. I placed - 35 watt turbo twist which got rid of green algae but I still get brown algae growth.

Anyone have any other secrets because I hate scrubbing it off weekly.

Any brown algae I get is excessive lights and/or high organic levels and in need of more drip/WC. Orthopod Orthopod if you have a drip system, up it 25%-40% and reduce light time to half. Be gone in two weeks or so. UV doesn’t impact brown algae since it isn’t free floating on the water column.

I do between 75 and 50% water change weekly on every tank, even the big ray tank. I don’t get much growth in the ray tank but I do in all the others, especially the fahaka where I use lights all day.

I wish I was more savvy with regards to a drip system. I would love to set one up but it may be beyond my abilities, lol.

AH gotcha. Sounds like a light issue. Ratchet those timers back to your viewing hours only and you should be set.

You got the drip skills trust me. When you come down to my place we’ll draw up a parts list and you can see how it goes together.

I keep a sailfin pleco in my all my tanks to get rid of any algae. Works like a charm. I’d avoid any chemicals to get rid of algae it seems more harm than good.

I’m going to have to take a road trip down to see your setup and learn from a Jedi drip artist then, lol.
