How would these fish look like in a community tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would contact jeff and see if he will ship to Canada. Wetspottropicalfish.com is in Oregon, they also might do Canada. Just got to contact them and see.

From your list of wants, I would do something like
1x red shoulder severum
12x Colombian tetra
8x black Venezuela cories
1x Vampire shrimp
Pair/trio of Bolivian Rams OR pair of crenicichla regani

Clean up crews are not needed. Your water changer is the best clean low-bio clean up crew. The problem with cleanup crews is that they can starve them if the other fish are aggressive eaters, so you get in a cycle of overfeeding, more maintenance, and more feeding.

dwarf pike can make other bottom cichlids stressed out due to aggression, and I wouldn't keep an invert with a pike in the tank. They love to eat inverts.

Even in a group of 10, severums can beat on each other pretty hard. If you keep one you will be fine, and you don't need a cleanup crew with a severum. They will find food on the bottom substrate.

Since you love dwarf cichlids, you don't need a cleanup crew since they stick naturally to the bottom substrate stick and will eat food from there

Uaru
dwarf cichlids
columbian adults would be a better contrast to Uara amphiacanthoides
shrimp if you really want to try

Sounds good, I said CLeanup crew, reality, I just love corys activety

would the folowing look nice
Uaru 2
dwarf cichlids 4 0r 5
columbian adults 12
shrimp 2
corys 8
roketeil severum 1

???
I would be satisfied with that
Thanks for your time, it helps

BTW white or Brown sand...???

Are you prepared to rehome the severum if picks on uaru? You have to understand you can't force cichlids to live together. It's something to consider, especially if you can't get the fish locally and have to order them.

brown/tan sand would be best

Yes i can, and will do what ever it takes to keep a healthy environment and atmosphere in my tank

do you think a sump 30 gals can take on the bio load,

Also whats the best media that basically will last forever for a sump,?

I find that two is not a great number tbh. If you get a breeding pair, they will likely become very aggressive. If you get two males, the dominant one will probably bully the smaller one.
But there are no hard and fast rules when keeping cichlids together, might work and might not. If not, be ready with another tank on standby to put the reject in.

I would go bigger on the sump if you can. If not, a 30 gallon should work. Plastic bio balls are good media, or lava rock which is much much cheaper. Both will last very long time.

yea, but what will hold the most media, something that is dependable, or do you know how much lava rock i should get, thanks?, if i lived in america, easily for 27$ i would just get 15lbs of white horticulture pumice, but I had to be canadian
