5 sided plywood tank?!

Mine definitely is functional. I can see the angled panel from my livingroom and can watch my rays.

Aside from a reduction in water volume, would have kept that side window if you were able to build a complete rectangle? Really trying to get a sense if the windows are worth it. The idea of the viewing angles sound really cool.

Probably wouldn't have initially, but I really like the look and glad it worked out this way. Very unique.

I'm an experienced carpenter and long time fish keeper. I have never had the balls to take on a build like this.
Credit where its due, that's an amazing job. You should be very proud.
This post has really inspired me to try one.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I truly feel that anyone could build something like this with the right tools and doing their homework like I did. I used others successes and failures to help determine the materials and techniques I applied to this build. I added a few twists of my own with the 5 sides and some of my unique filtration ideas. Was a really fun build.

You should do a build thread. In about a year I'm going to attempt a large flat back hex. I'm not an experienced carpenter so I'll likely be fiber glassing the inside and outside seams.
