I doubt you would feed them clams. I just threw that out since I wanted to know if they could bite through the shell

I’ve seen many videos of them eating clams and apparently it’s the best food for keeping their teeth trimmed as it’s so hard

Yes from 6-8" they will break clams, incredible beak strength.

Depends what you want, if you want a fish get the Midas if you want an awesome poisonous alien that you literally can't put you hand in the tank get a fahaka lol... If you have younger brothers or sisters fahaka may be an issue.
You can buy big packs of frozen clams at the fish stalls at markets, will last month's.
Wildwoods has fahaka ATM I believe.

If they can bite through a clam at about 6 inches then imagine what they could do to a hand let alone a hand!
Imagine what a dozen of them could do to your arm if you got distracted for a few seconds
