Best wet pet

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im super surprised no one mentioned puffers...

They are imo some of the best wet pets you can own... true puppy dogs of the aquatic world...

If you want something rare that almost no one owns try and find a cross river puffer... otherwise a Fahaka would last a good while in a 125G before needing an upgrade depending on dimentions...

The only thing I didn’t like about puffers was that i don’t feel like there active enough and sometimes just lay on the bottom

Fahaka don't stop moving... You get lurker puffers which sit about. . Homer can likely list the active ones, trouble is most active ones are either massive or less than 4".

I think realistically a fahaka would be the best choice since they arent overly expensive, easy to come by, are active and can get fairly large with averages of around 15-17” max size...

The fact they are so interactive with their owners is a real plus...

The schoutedeni puffer is another option i’ve been reading a lot about lately, more expensive and much smaller but work well as a group supposedly in well decorated tanks even with tankmates...

These would fit the rare part the OP was looking for since they arent that common atm but not so rare you cant find them like a true cross river...

I would love a fahaka tank... Do their beaks need attention? As in trimming and/or special foods like clams?

Could they bite through an oyster shell ya think? At full grown I'd reckon that they would infact have enough strength to do so.
