Memorial Pond

Pretty big, pond life suits him well

It does! I hope he loses that yellow color. My ryukins got that same awful yellow, but after winter went back to a nice white. Hope the same happens with this guy. I couldn’t get a good measurement since I have fry in the measuring tub, but he is at least 7”.

Yellow color can be caused by huge amounts of carotene in the diet, not bad for them but turns white into a yellow color

Is that something that would be listed on the ingredients label? Or is it one of those things that’s hidden under a different name? I couldn’t find it.
I’ve always bought it was my water that caused it, but that can’t be. I’m not even sure it’s the food. Right now the oranda is the only one with white that’s turned yellow. My other goldies and even koi that had that last year are all back to their normal color now. It’s kinda baffling to me.
I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t go back to white, the oranda was a perfect white when I bought him.

Mostly found in crustaceans such as krill, crab, shrimp, lobster, etc.
Could be gene linked but doubt it, may simply be hunting down more Arthropods than his pondmates

I pulled a few koi today.
My biggest koi. Big O

She is a mutty mutt, but a big favorite. Her appetite has her first at the dock to be fed and therefore one of my top “friendly” fish.

Stitch. He is my top favorite male in the pond just because he has the best body. I actually thought he was a she for a while because his body is built wider like most females are. C52FCB87-D89A-43BE-9DEB-63EB3C741CD0.jpeg
He looks black in that top pic, but he is actually blue with some silver scales. This bottom picture shows his color a little better. I should have taken pictures while the sun was out more.

And my beautiful Guinevere. Again, pond grade, but I think she’s lovely.
