Abei Puffer info

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You already have a Dubosi??? Then an Abei may have a similar personality since they are technically both semi-lurkers...

Also for a single abei a 60-80G would be enough, but naturally they would absolutely love exploring a full 125G even more ;)

But just realized you plan on dividing it up, so should be still enough space for one...

Thank you for the info. The abei are at wetspot and I am not convinced it is ID'd correctly so I will pass for now. I have a fahaka who refuses to grow. She is about 6 inches and has stayed essentially the same size for months so I am calling her full grown and I just got the Dubosi.

The Dubosi is in qt right now. How do you recommend his tank setup? Do they burrow?
This fish is great and absolutely adorable. I am currently tong feeding him cut up shrimp.

They like hanging out in caves and under overhang, so maybe some driftwood stacked so there are holes for the puff to hide in along with some java fern or anubias stuck between crevices for extra shade...

As for your fahaka, this is now the 2nd time i’ve heard of one not growing up so to speak... there was a member here who had one that of memory serves me correctly refused to grow past 4” even though it always had a larger than needed tank...

So yours makes this the 2nd one that seems to be determined not to grow up...

If i also remember correctly, i think there was debate that there maybe a 2nd type of fahaka which is smaller, but not sure if there was ever a conclusion to that theory...

This fahaka is in a 125 with a drip and fed plenty. He has grown maybe an inch or so sine I got her. I really don't think she has added any size recently. My last one grew a min of an inch per month until she hit 12 inches.
