Not poly related, but since my friends are on the poly section, I'd like to post this here.
My salt water fire shrimp died today. I had him for 2 years in a Fluval 6gal. He was in there by himself, though I'm not sure if the tank size contributed to his death. He was not stunted and grew over 2 inches. I'd like to think I provided stable water parameters, but am still saddened by this loss.

Now I'm not sure what to do with the 6 gallon. Idk if I should keep it salt water, go brackish, or fresh. It's a fluval edge, so it would be a little difficult for a beta unless if I kept the water level low.

some options:
- keep it salt: get another shrimp, corals, idk?
- brackish for figure 8 puff or pea puff(fresh)
-fresh : beta, crystal shrimp, something else?

any ideas as to what to get? Keeping it salt would probably be the easiest just because I have live rock that I paid a lot for.

Sorry for your loss, Keep it salt and get an anemone shrimp
thank you. I'll look into that. Have you had one before?

Did a test on the water and I let my nitrate get too high. It was 40ppm, so I'm guessing that's what did it. Now I know why people say the smaller saltwater tanks are harder to keep.

Its possible they are super sensitive to stuff like that. Sorry to hear. I used to love my cleaner and blood shrimp they were so cool. My friends always got a kick out of them cleaning their cuticles.
6 gal? Top? Get a good light some sweet zoos and a firefish, needs a top though.
