Just ordered a custom acrylic 60x30x22 filtration options?

Cool, I'll probably get an FX6. I talked them into adding 2" of height to the tank for only $50 more. 60x30x24 now. I think I got a hell of a deal.
Sweet tank what company did you go with? I recently had some custom tanks built and has been such a debacle. Hope your deal goes smoothly though.
With cichlids I like to shoot for canisters that give turnover rate of 8-10X GPH. With the FX6 alone you will get a turnover rate of 5.6x GPH- you may want to supplement this with another smaller canister filter or a powerful HOB.
Its helpful to have a second filter as well so that when you clean one filter you have the second filter to keep the bio-filter stable.

I have a AC110 laying around that I can put on it. I ordered a large "hydro pond 4" sponge prefilter for it as well.

I'm really debating between African Hap/peacock tank and a SA tank with JD's, green terror, midas, jaguar, and several 4 line pim cats, or fire eels.
The wife does not like the idea of Catfish or eels in the house though. The tank footprint 60x30 lends itself to SA species I think though.

Look forward to seeing what path you take. 
It would be nice if you made a journal build, so you could share your decisions, like here with filtration, as you add other elements ( hardware, substrate and hardscape, plants, if any, and fish, etc...).
