Size. Everyone always talks about big clown loaches but the biggest ones I've ever seen are 5-6 inches and several years old.. do they really get to 12 inches or is there a clear size difference between the two species?

Does high PH harm them like some south american fish? Would a PH of 8.0 be a problem long term?

I saw a picture of a 16 inch one. I can literally find you a picture of one a lot bigger then 12 inches.

They do grow very slowly. You can have one 2 decades old and have it not be 12 inches while some can hit 12 inches in 3 years or less if they're given the right conditions. It's genetics I think that plays the biggest part.

How are they in high PH 8.0?

I have no idea, I'm not a loach person, I'm more of a catfish person.
I'm not sure who is the loach guy here....
K krichardson you are a knowledgeable guy, got any information on clown loaches in pH 8?.

They are fairly hardy but very slow growers, you can speed up growth by putting them in ponds that get decent amounts of sun.

Somewhere on the Internet is a picture of an Asian arowana and a clown loach where the clown loach is the same size or a bit bigger then the arowana.
