Pea puffers are great little nano fish. Bumblebee gobies are great as well.

If your willing to go saltwater, pygmy wrasses like the tanaka's wrasse , possum wrasses, and pinkline wrasse, are really awesome little fish.

Of all the nano fish, the boraras genus is my absolute favourite; versatile and hardy yet beautiful. They've worked in every setup I've attempted with them, from paludariums with newts to over grown planted tanks where they bred. They school near the surface, under floating plants, when you pair them with significantly larger fish. They pair up into little groups when cohabitating with larger tetras, hiding within the tetra school. When alone in the tank, they wander away from the shoal, rarely forming one.

Otherwise, texanus crayfish and isopods are probably my favourite nano inverts.

Pea puffers, bumblebee gobies, desert gobies, rainbow shiners, any rhinogobius species, dwarf hastatus or hasbrosus cory catfish, Kuhli loach, dwarf chain loach, and celestial pearl danios (they look like mini trout).
