That is hard to watch, I didn’t watch the whole thing.
I’m seeing a good reason now to keep rope on hand. Since the dog was so focused on him the others could easily have tied the dogs feet and took control of the situation.

We have a pitt, and they do not feel pain. Beating the dog will not stop it.
Hello; The postman eventually got away from the dog and into the car taking the video. I am sure he is badly hurt. The dog flopped over for a short time but got up and was going after the woman. Last of the visuals was the woman going for her front door. I do not know if she made it.

Too many folks around here (Northest TN ) let their dogs run loose. I carry all the time when I ride or walk and much of the time in general. I had my weapon out when confronted by the two dogs the first time. I knew to stop riding as it was a surprise and I knew I could not out run them. I stopped and put the bicycle between me and them. That stopped the chase but every time I started to get back on the bike they would close in. I was able to eventually charge at them yelling and they backed off enough that I got away.

I was ready the next ride and had my speed up going out from my home so got by. But coming back on the other side of the highway was up a slight grade and my 71 year old legs do not have much speed uphill. The dogs came right out on the highway. Cars were swerving and some even stopped. I hoped a car would end the standoff but no such luck.

I have ridden a couple of times since the deputy came by and have not seen the dogs. I hope he found the owner(s) as that is much preferred to my shooting a dog. Anyway I now carry some additional non lethal protection. I do not want to be mauled so will protect myself but I also do not want to be vilified for hurting a dog. I am willing to bet there will be some who will object to the dog in the linked video being put down.

Thats tough to watch but at least people had the in the area were brave enough to help. My god the dog was so intense.

Do you know provoked the attack ? Shame had the dog been on a leash this wouldnt have happened. Looked like it took a hammer to finally get him off
Hello; No I have no information beyond what is in the link. The man is a postman but I do not know where. Even the hammerr only stunned the dog briefly. The length of the attack and the mans screams are gruesome.
Years ago my brother had a small poodle that growled at the mailman. He had to put a mailbox out on the street after that as the mailman would not come onto the property after that. I do not blame the mailman at all. If
If I an guessing the mail man went on the owners property to deliver mail and the dog decided to eat him. Too much liability with pittbull types and mastiffs. I bet the dog owner is out of pocket big time or his insurance is.

That is really sad.
I also don’t understand how people are ok with letting their dogs be free like that in neighborhoods/cities.

Even being out in the country I keep a close eye on our dogs so they don’t run off.
As much as I love animals I fully support defend ones self from any attacking animal. Pet or not.

......anybody watch the oscars last night?

Hello; A friend of mine lets his dog run lose. It is a mutt about german shepard sized. The guy next door lets a great dane run lose and it has barked at me as I get out of my car. Both houses in a housing development with a high density of houses.

Hello; He did not pull it off. I guess it is a success in that he is getting lots of press for the attire. I guess low level celebrities will do pretty much anything to get press time. I think from now on when a celebrity starts telling me what to think I will try to picture their face superimposed on this guys.

Has anyone ever called animal control?

The worst I’ve had to deal with is my neighbors German shepherd and black lab coming over to use my pond as a way to cool off in the heat of summer. They aren’t aggressive in anyway, no barking. But they trample my gardens and refuse to go home. Thankfully they didn’t come over last year. I’d be very angry if they put holes in my pond liner. I had a hard pond form the two years they came out before that.
